Handcrafted detailed death head hawk Moth (Acherontia) made of solid copper with a natural amethyst cabochon setting. The pendant is the focal point of a chain necklace with drilled natural raw amethyst gemstones, natural amethyst round beads and two completely handcrafted copper Celtic knot design findings. Death head moth insects are widely known since the late 18th century and are seen in memento mori jewelry, art, novels, occult literature and in the movie “Silence of the Lambs”. They are named after human scull markings on their body.

Metals can develop patina over time if unused, and can be cleaned with a polishing cloth. Sealant might wear off after a while. Copper ages nicely.
JEWELRY CARE:
You should remove your jewelry before doing any of thefollowing:
MOTH SYMBOL MEANING:
The Death Head Moth has a symbolism to strong individuals who defy death and embrace their surroundings Moths represent transformation, hidden knowledge, inner wisdom, psychic abilities, and shadow work. Moth are connected to the moon, feminine and yin energies, and intuition. If you are searching for a deeper meaning to your life, the light you are looking for is inside of you, not outside of you. Your own inner light, your truth, your intuition, and higher self-guide you to your highest path and truest nature.
AboutCopper And Bronze:
Bronze/ Copper: these metals may discolor the skin green. It does not apply to everybody but please be aware that this might happen. I do seal all bronze and copper pendants withrenaissance wax, but sealing might wear off after a certain time and need to be re-sealed.
Since the tarnishing process is facilitated by the oxygen in the air, it is advisable to keep your copper/ bronze jewelry in a plastic bag to slow down the formation of patina. You can also put an anti-tarnish stripin the bag.
Make sure you wipe your bronze/copper jewelry dry before storing it: Leaving it to dry in contact with the air makes it easier for patina to form.
